Stuttgart/Reutlingen – Bosch eBike Systems expands its theft protection by an innovative feature to make parking eBikes even more secure with the smart system. The new eBike Alarm function provides more comprehensive digital theft protection in addition to the mechanical lock. This allows more carefree parking of the eBike.

"Anyone who decides to buy an eBike should also be able to enjoy it for a long time," says Claus Fleischer, CEO of Bosch eBike Systems. "We are now providing even more security with smart system technology. Thanks to the new eBike Alarm function, users can be more relaxed about parking their eBike, reassured that they will be informed about the status of their eBike via the eBike Flow app."

Activated, informed and alerted: Digital protection with the eBike Flow app

The eBike Alarm simply requires one-time activation via the eBike Flow app. The feature is always active, with an existing GPS connection when the eBike system is switched off. The smartphone serves as the key. At the same time, users can see the location and security status of their eBike at any time in the eBike Flow app. The eBike is therefore protected and easy to find again.

If the eBike Alarm registers that someone is tampering with the eBike, the system responds with a two-stage alarm. Thanks to a smart motion detector, it can tell whether your eBike has been moved a little or a lot. In the case of slight movements, the eBike system emits several short warning tones as a deterrent. If the eBike is moved a lot and the matching digital key, i.e. the person's smartphone, is not nearby, it alerts the surroundings to the attempted theft by emitting a loud alarm tone. It also sends a notification to the smartphone. To prevent eBikers from worrying unnecessarily, this alarm is only triggered in critical situations.

Automatic tracking in the event of theft

If the eBike is stolen, the eBike Alarm function sends out a notification and automatically starts tracking. The eBike Flow app can then be used to determine the location of the eBike and forward the relevant data to the police – this is particularly crucial in the first two hours to increase the chance of finding the eBike again. In addition, the eBike Flow app gives users tips on what to do in the event of theft.

To use eBike Alarm, the eBike Lock feature must be activated in the eBike Flow app and the new ConnectModule installed on the eBike. The fee-based component is installed concealed on the eBike by a specialist retailer and contains a radio and GPS module, a separate battery and various sensors. The eBike Alarm can only be used once the ConnectModule has been installed.

Twelve months of free use

Users who decide to purchase a ConnectModule receive eBike Alarm for twelve months at no additional cost. After that, they can decide whether they want to continue using the digital service at a fee – eBike Alarm is not charged for automatically. After the free trial year, the feature costs 4.99 euros per month or 39.99 euros per year.

The ConnectModule is available from specialist retailers and eBike Alarm can be downloaded as part of the smart system via the eBike Flow app. The eBike Flow app can be downloaded from the relevant app store at no additional cost.
