Abstatt – Bosch Motorsport receives the Don Burgoon Most Innovative Product in Motorsport of the Year Award for its hand-controlled electric braking system. The award was presented at the World Motorsport Symposium in London on November 26. This annual award is presented by an international panel of motorsport experts in order to honor innovations and pioneering technologies. "I am absolutely delighted that our development is able to impress the jury of the World Motorsport Symposium. Components and systems for motorsports from Bosch not only help countless racing teams around the world win their races. They also stand for a high level of safety and more sustainability in motorsports. This is how we are also supporting the future feasibility and acceptance of racing events worldwide," explains Ingo Mauel, head of Bosch Motorsport.

Bosch Motorsport developed the hand-controlled electric braking system specifically for Canadian race driver Robert Wickens. Since an accident in 2018, Wickens has been paralyzed from the waist down and he relies on hand controls for the accelerator and brake pedals in his race car. Previous solutions did not ideally handle the high functional requirements in motorsports. For the redesign of Wickens' hand-controlled braking system, Bosch Motorsport utilized its existing electronic brake system (EBS) module from the Le Mans Daytona Hybrid (LMDh) class with its trusted controls platform and display to provide a more robust solution. The added technology allows Wickens exactly what he needs to achieve sensitive brake control and fast reaction times when braking. Built-in diagnostics ensure simple and reliable functional testing of the system.

Bosch Motorsport develops and distributes complete electronics systems and components for use in race cars. The company looks back on more than 120 years of tradition in motorsports. Bosch Motorsport supports some of the most important racing series in the world as a partner, supplier, and sponsor.
