It’s a whole new power class: Bosch has upgraded its ProCore18V batteries for professionals and is now offering the most compact high-performance 18 volt batteries on the market with its ProCore18V 4.0, 8.0, and 12.0 Ah. The combination of a new cell generation with higher capacity and a battery design with improved CoolPack technology enables a very compact battery with higher power output. For example, the 8.0 Ah ProCore18V offers around 90 percent more power than standard 18 volt batteries. This allows tradespeople to make faster work progress. In addition, with the GAL 18V-160 C Professional, Bosch has created the fastest charger for 18 volt batteries – the world’s first with connectivity – allowing tradespeople to achieve greater productivity.

“Compact”, “Performance”, and “Endurance” ProCore18V batteries

High performance, a long lifetime, and compatibility with the existing range – these features are designed to make day-to-day work easier and are in the focus of the new ProCore18V battery range. The optimal size is available for every application: The “Compact” 4.0 Ah ProCore18V battery is single-layered thanks to new, higher-capacity cells. As a result, it is significantly smaller and lighter than the standard two-layered 4.0 Ah battery, but offers the same power. This makes serial applications and overhead work much easier. The “Performance” 8.0 Ah ProCore18V battery is suitable for a broader range of applications, including more power-intensive tasks. Its power is comparable to that of a power pack with 1600 watts. For particularly intensive applications using cordless rotary hammers, angle grinders, or circular saws, the “Endurance” 12.0 Ah Pro-core18V battery is available.

Longer lifetime thanks to improved CoolPack technology

Batteries with CoolPack technology have a significantly longer lifetime than conventional batteries. They enable tradespeople to perform power-intensive applications over a long period of time. Heat dissipation is maximized as a result of the interaction between several components: The housing and the cooling elements in the interior, which completely encase each individual cell, are made from high-density polyethylene. Both the material and the special design, aimed at increasing the surface area, allow better heat dissipation. In addition, the battery is designed without any gaps, which ensures the heat produced is not stored in the interior. Improved cell connectors made from copper also provide lower resistances and more power as a result.

The fastest and world’s first connected charger for 18 volts

The GAL 18V-160 C Professional is the fastest charger for 18 volt batteries. It provides 16 amperes of charging current, charging the 12.0 Ah ProCore18V battery to 80 percent in around 35 minutes, for example – this is twice the speed of the GAL 1880 Professional. In addition, the charger is the world’s first with a connectivity function. Tradespeople can easily connect it to their smartphone using the Bosch Toolbox app, making information such as the remaining charge time and general battery condition readily available. In addition, they can choose between four different charging modes – from a very gentle mode to protect the battery, through to superfast charging. For example, in the “Power Boost” mode the battery can be half charged in a very short time, allowing tradespeople to continue working faster on the building site.

Full compatibility with the existing range

All batteries in the ProCore18V system are part of the “Flexible Power System” from Bosch. This guarantees compatibility between all new and existing power tools and chargers within the same voltage class, offering tradespeople planning and cost security.

The new ProCore18V batteries and GAL 18V-160 C Professional charger will be available from September 2018. All prices are recommended retail prices excluding VAT. Subject to change.
