More flexible than sandpaper – and more robust, more durable, smoother, and washable – the new W480 Web manual abrasive from the Bosch Expert series is a true all-arounder. Developed in-house, it looks and feels more like a cloth than sandpaper. Thanks to its unique material properties, tradespeople and DIYers alike can conveniently and consistently smoothen workpieces for the first time that have so far been difficult to treat with conventional sandpaper. Such workpieces include the ends of metal pipes or lathed parts and ornaments on chairs, tables, and cabinets, as well as plastics and surfaces with an epoxy resin coating. The abrasive can be folded, rolled up, or crumpled, yet it still returns to its original shape.

Flexi-Web technology revolutionizes manual abrasives

Instead of paper as a backing material, Bosch uses a flexible base with a web structure for the Expert W480 Web. The web structure features a premium-quality aluminum oxide grit on both sides that guarantees a long lifetime and consistent sanding results. That makes the Expert W480 Web the first double-sided and flexible manual abrasive on the market. The water- and tear-resistant web is washable and makes the abrasive significantly more durable than a conventional paper abrasive, where sanding dust wears down the spaces between the grit over time. After being washed, the Expert W480 Web feels as good as new. Another advantage of the innovative abrasive is that the pleasant surface and soft structure deliver a better tactile experience when handling workpieces. Users can detect unevenness better, allowing them to work with greater precision.

An expert-class abrasive for a wide range of materials and users

Bosch offers the new abrasive from coarse to extra-fine in four grits: 120, 180, 240, and 320. The Expert W480 Web makes it easy for professionals and DIYers to work on wood, metal, and plastic. This versatility benefits users such as painters, who often must roughen different materials before applying paint or coatings. The same applies for DIYers. From removing residual paint from old furniture or rust film from bicycles to deburring 3D-printed objects, the Expert W480 Web pays off with its wide range of applications. It is part of the Bosch Expert accessory range, which is unique in the market and covers the most demanding applications across all major trades, in line with the mission to deliver “The best your tool can get.” Bosch offers over 1,000 products in the Expert performance class. Expert accessories shine where conventional accessories reach their limits and are superior to standard accessories by leaps and bounds – just like the new Expert W480 Web.

Bosch now also offers an innovative abrasive with a longer lifetime than ever for sanding with random orbit sanders: the Expert O780 Foil .

The Expert W480 Web manual abrasive is available starting in September. All prices are recommended retail prices and do not include VAT.
