Stuttgart – Bosch Smart Home celebrates the centennial of the IFA in Berlin with the presentation of a new product line that further enhances the smart home experience. With the [+M] product line, Bosch Smart Home now offers Bosch Smart Home devices that are compatible with Matter, the new communications standard. The special feature of the [+M] product line: The [+M] devices can be used with perfectly harmonised applications in the Bosch Smart Home system as well as with the corresponding functions in the preferred Matter system. Each user can now flexibly set up their own smart home to meet their individual requirements. The first products in the [+M] product line are the Radiator Thermostat II [+M], the Door/Window Contact II [+M] and the Plug Compact [+M].

Full flexibility with [+M]

The Bosch Smart Home system is characterised by simple installation and perfectly harmonised automations, scenarios and services. Bosch Smart Home began Matter integration in 2024 with the Matter update of the Smart Home Controller II to a Matter Bridge. With the [+M] product line, Bosch Smart Home now takes the logical next step and offers even greater flexibility for a customised smart home setup.

The devices in the [+M] product line are able to communicate in the two wireless standards Zigbee and Matter. This means they can be integrated directly into a Matter system without a Bosch Smart Home Controller, although integration into the Bosch Smart Home system in the usual way is still guaranteed. The highlight: Switching between Bosch Smart Home and the preferred Matter system is possible in either direction and whenever desired, even after purchase. Bosch Smart Home thus offers the utmost flexibility for setting up one’s preferred smart home solution – either in a fully comprehensive Bosch Smart Home with maximal range of functions or in an individually customised Matter system.

Good for the indoor climate

The Radiator Thermostat II [+M]* maintains individually pre-set desired temperatures, displays the current temperature in the app, and ensures maximal energy efficiency and needs-based heating thanks to time programmes and services such as Sustainable Ventilation and Temperature Drop. This smart thermostat installs simply on a radiator, where it facilitates either manual or automatic temperature control. The heating algorithm is optimally controlled through the combination with other devices and automations. The Radiator Thermostat II [+M] can also be remotely controlled via an app, thus warming or cooling the home in preparation for your return from holiday, for example. To ensure consistently trouble-free operation, the Radiator Thermostat II [+M] is protected against frost and limescale, sounds an audible low-battery warning and automatically checks the valve function at regularly scheduled intervals.

Combined burglary protection and energy saving

The Door/Window Contact II [+M]* is a real all-rounder in smart home applications. As a connective link, it expands smart temperature control, makes a home even more secure and can now be used with even greater flexibility thanks to its compatibility with Matter. This smart contact reliably detects open doors and windows, and it displays their status via real-time notifications sent to a smartphone. The Sustainable Ventilation service automatically lowers the settings of radiator thermostats in a room when the windows are open, thus conserving energy and lowering costs. As part of the alarm system, it triggers an alarm if doors or windows are opened without authorisation and it warns of potential security breaches if windows or doors have been left open when the alarm system is activated. The operating button on the Door/Window Contact II [+M] also serves several functions: It functions as a trigger for actions or scenarios as well as for the pause function. Thanks to IP45 certification, the Door/Window Contact II [+M] is also suitable for outdoor use, so it can notify its user if someone opens the garden gate, for example.

The small all-rounder – now even more adaptable

The Bosch Smart Home Plug Compact [+M]* augments conventional sockets – now also with Matter support. The adapter plug makes all standard electrical appliances smart so they can be integrated into automations and scenarios or configured for specific commands. For example, all appliances can be disconnected from the power grid at night, thus lowering electricity costs and protecting the environment. Another practical feature is the integrated energy meter, which continually provides information on the current energy consumption of connected devices. The Plug Compact [+M] performs another intelligent function in Matter mode, where it functions as a repeater to simultaneously forward and amplify the wireless signal, thus not only increasing the range but also making the network more stable and robust.

*The functions offered in the Matter system depend on the respective provider.
