Stuttgart/Berlin. What happens at home while I’m away and how do I keep an overview of it? With the smart Eyes outdoor camera from Bosch Smart Home, the user knows around the clock who is in front of his door – even in the middle of the night or when the resident is away from home.
The device combines a security solution and stylish outdoor lighting. This enables the camera to shoot excellent, high-quality, colour videos in outstanding image quality (full-HD video quality with 1,080p) even in the dark. Recorded images of people are optimally visible – both during live viewing and afterwards when recorded video footage is played back. The outdoor camera simultaneously provides the home with atmospheric, individually adjustable, outdoor lighting: for example, it can be set to switch on at dusk and off again at another predefined time. Front and facade lights can be selected separately. Irrespective of this, the front luminaire switches on whenever movement is detected, provided the motion light is activated. Microphone and loudspeaker support two-way communication (listening and speaking) with people who are within range of the camera – via app from anywhere in the world.

Intelligent event detection

Thanks to sensitive event detection, the camera does not react to moving trees or passing small animals. This means that only those events are automatically recorded which are actually significant, thus minimizing the number of false alarms. In addition to being activated by the intelligent motion sensors, the camera now also activates as soon as the sensitive microphones detect unusual sounds. All events are immediately forwarded to the smartphone and can be viewed live or as recordings – anytime and anywhere in the world. The recorded and encrypted videos are stored on the camera and can be viewed only by the owner. The app can also be used to give friends or acquaintances access to the camera so they can keep a watchful eye on a vacant home while its residents are away. For example, the authorization can be user-defined for the duration of a holiday. The temporary access automatically expires on a pre-determined date, for example, the anticipated homecoming date.

The improved design of the app also offers new interactive possibilities. This makes it easy to categorize and filter events: video recordings captured today or yesterday, triggered by movements or sounds, and much more. If the camera is temporarily unavailable or has been stolen, the material is cached in the Bosch cloud.

Securely installed

For operation, the Bosch Smart Home Eyes outdoor camera must be connected to the power supply and WLAN. Thanks to its integrated lighting, it can be set up wherever outdoor lighting is installed. This means that no additional wiring is required. Installation begins by attaching a mounting plate, to which the cables are connected. The camera can be plugged onto the mounting plate within a few seconds and is then immediately ready for operation. Thanks to the simplicity of adjusting the camera’s viewing angle, the camera can be attached to any house wall and aimed accordingly. In addition, relevant areas (e.g. zones located outside the private property) can easily be excluded from the camera detection in the app. The app guides the user through a simple installation process, which is simplified by clear, animated instructions. A unique QR code is generated and held in front of the camera. This securely transfers the network ID, WLAN password and security token to the camera.

The Bosch Smart Camera App can control up to ten indoor or outdoor cameras and can preset various camera scenarios. All installed cameras are then displayed on the home screen. The app now also displays an overview of all new camera functions so users can discover them better and more easily. The Bosch Smart Camera App is available for Android and iOS.
